Why be so mean to yourself?

Hi FitFooters! 👋🏽👋🏼👋🏻👋🏾👋🏿

(The above photo taken several years ago from my talented photographer friend Kevin always makes me feel like a bada$$ 😂)

But seriously, let me ask you this:

Do you love running and racing?

Why?

Or more importantly, why not?

Do you use running as a way to punish your body? Do you tell yourself that you will finally be happy and like yourself once you accomplish something in running?

Are you mean to yourself if you don’t perform as well as you think you should?

Would you like to stop this destructive behavior?

Would you like to remember what it’s like to have fun with running?

One of the things Brene Brown (researcher at the University of Houston, author of several books including Rising Strong and the author of a viral TED Talk on Vulnerability) talks about a lot in her research is that you CANNOT SHAME YOURSELF INTO ACCOMPLISHING THINGS.

In other words, you simply will not get better at running by being hard on yourself.

\

This may be counterintuitive to many of us.

We are used to pushing, disciplining, depriving ourselves to greatness.

This is not sustainable (or at the very least not enjoyable at all).

We cannot change what we hate, only what we love.

Are you ready to fall back in love with running? ... with the journey of blowing your own d@mn mind about what you are capable of?

I guarantee that what you are capable of in running and life is infinitely brighter than what your current thoughts are offering you.

If these statements shake you up a bit and get you curious about what you can accomplish with the right tools and guidance, I would love to invite you to sign up for my Faster 5k by Fall coaching program.

The result of this 4 month one-on-one coaching sessions will be a body that can run faster, but more importantly, you will create a mind that is healthy, strong, and HAPPY.

You will address your drama and get to work being great - whatever that means specifically for you. It may mean completing a 5k in under 30 minutes or a 5k in under 15 mins. Or maybe you just want to stop a vicious over exercising, injury, self sabotage cycle and enjoy a healthy, active, and happy life.

You ABSOLUTELY have it in you to achieve that thing you are dreaming about.

I would be honored to help you see and believe it AND GET IT.
