Can't Stop Running 2s (as in 200 meters repeats)

sung to Phil Collins' Can't Stop Loving You

Running 200 meter repeats on a track (or 2s for short) is a great way to work on speed, pacing, and leg turnover. One of my favorite workouts (and by favorite I mean the one that makes me throw up the most consistently but also helps get me fit and race ready) is 200 meters hard, 200 meters easy jog, repeat until you can barely stand. I think my personal record is 20 repeats, which equates to approximately 5 miles of running on the track, 2.5 of those miles are HARD. Anyhoo, I only did 4 this morning. But this song was playing on repeat in my head. Enjoy.

So you're runnin'

In the mornin'

At the early track

You could stay in bed alright

You could pretend not to see the light

Got your coffee

Got your sneakers

Got your goal mile

You could run in old shoes

Then your feet would sing the blues

Your muscles be sighin'

Cuz I can't stop runnin' 2s

No, I can't stop runnin' 2s

No, I won't stop runnin' 2s

Why should I?

We took a carpool to the practice

Not a word was said

And we saw coach Will walk across the field

With an crazy workout in his head

Feeling humble

Feel a rumble

In my lower intestine

And when I hear Keith's blow

I'll only have one hard rep to go

And I will be flyin'

Cuz I can't stop runnin' 2s

No, I can't stop runnin' 2s

No, I won't stop runnin' 2s

Why should I?

I'll always be improvin' my stride

And 400s will always make me cry

Coach says have a stubborn stubborn mind

So you're runnin'

In the morning

At the early track

Well I could stay in bed alright

I could pretend not to see the light

Sore legs still be sighin'

But I can't stop runnin' 2s

No, I can't stop runnin' 2s

No, I won't stop runnin' 2s

Why should I?

Classic Phil Collins

Beautiful rendition by Taylor Swift

These were consumed post workout. We had a birthday (76 years young!) to celebrate. Plus we all really love donuts.

Stay well, FitFooters!
